Partner Risk Operations is responsible for managing the risk relationships spanning across global payment method, card, and financial partners. It is our mission to build operational controls to mitigate user and partner risk and enable strategic development opportunities.

What you’ll do

As a Risk Operations Analyst (Partner Risk Operations) you will be working to ensure our policies and practices align to the needs of our financial partners. You will be accountable for workflows impacting a variety of cross-functional internal and external stakeholders to identify and assess regulatory, contractual, and partner risk. You will influence and advise operational teams in building out scalable operational processes to ensure compliance with service level agreements, routine reporting, and overall risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate sound judgment and an ability to navigate non-binary, high-risk decisions
  • Evaluate merchants, from successful venture-backed startups to well established institutions by assessing suitability to process on Stripe
  • Adhere closely to process while still constantly questioning assumptions, suggesting improvements, and following up implementation of those improvements
  • Effectively and clearly communicate with internal Stripes, Stripe's users, and Stripe's financial partners across Japan and APAC
  • Identify risk trends and further report these to cross functional teams to enhance detection systems
  • Contribute to projects to enhance and optimize due diligence strategy systems and tools
  • Help build and scale processes across the risk operations ecosystem
  • Identify gaps in current systems, policies and strategies, and recommends enhancements and process improvements to mitigate emerging risks through a collaborative approach with stakeholders
  • Work with internal teams towards goals such as improving onboarding processes for our users and building support systems for a seamless onboarding experience in JP and APAC.
  • Cover operational areas like risk escalations and support matters. Handle operational tasks such as Merchant Category Code (MCC), cross border, MATCH, statement descriptor, and government entity reviews

Who you are

Minimum requirements

  • 2+ years experience working with Card network/Banking partners & systems
  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English
  • Experience in supporting, providing guidance and overseeing with contractors in scaled workflows
  • Deep empathy for users, and approaches problem solving with a pragmatic lens
  • Working knowledge of SQL and data analysis to surface actionable insights in driving process and product improvements
  • The ability and desire to challenge the status quo;
  • You like ownership, being accountable, and driving towards ambitious goals

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior experience or knowledge in user support
  • Prior experience in risk operations
  • Prior experience working on projects or process improvement initiatives
Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is ¥7,361,100 - ¥11,041,700. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
