About the team

As a platform company powering businesses all over the world, Stripe processes payments, runs marketplaces, detects fraud, helps entrepreneurs from anywhere in the world, builds world-class developer-friendly APIs, and more.

The Payments Processing-Cards team owns all of Stripe’s most critical payment flows, with our platform processing hundreds of billions of dollars in card payments and locally preferred payment methods annually. Engineers on the team have the opportunity to expand the reach of Stripe’s global payments network, design and implement novel payment capabilities, and deliver best-in-class reliability and performance.

Cards are the essence of Stripe's business. The Cards team builds robust cards-specific infrastructure that enables teams to scalably develop a single coherent API powering Stripe's largest users, globally.

Our Vision

  • Core cards functionality is consistent, compliant, and observable
  • Win and retain large users on Stripe Payments cards acquiring via building best in class capabilities
  • Build cards foundations to be agnostic to the underlying storage model.

You will:

  • Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systems across Stripe’s engineering teams
  • Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack
  • Work with engineers across the company to build new features at large-scale
  • Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 6 -10 years of professional software development experience
  • Either a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field involving coding (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics) or equivalent technical experience
  • Worked on projects which have involved multiple engineering teams
  • Empathy, strong communication skills and a deep respect for the power of collaboration
  • A learning mindset, regardless of level or experience
  • The ability to drive clear next steps when encountering ambiguous spaces without clear lines of ownership
  • High standards for code quality and a constructive attitude to help others raise the bar
  • An ability to think creatively and holistically about reducing risk in a complex environment

Preferred qualifications

  • Have experience with financial product companies and interest in financial products and markets.
Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is S$112,000 - S$240,000. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Specific benefits and details about what compensation is included in the salary range listed above will vary depending on the applicant’s location and can be discussed in more detail during the interview process. Benefits/additional compensation for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; retirement plans; health benefits; and wellness stipends.
