About the role

As Kopperfield’s lead designer and founding team member, you will shape our product and brand experience. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will play a crucial role in defining our visual and functional identity. We value design thinking highly, having collaborated with top-tier designers previously. We're looking to expand our team with a seasoned designer who will infuse a design-forward approach into everything we do.

Primary responsibilities

  • Product design (UX and UI) for responsive web from end-to-end: concept, wireframes, prototypes, mockups, final fit, and finish
  • Foster and lead design as a function at the company, build up our design systems and practices
  • Find and manage external design resources, such as contract designers, brand designers, copywriters, and research vendors as needed

We're looking for candidates that have...

  • 4+ years of professional design experience at a software company
  • Highly collaborative team player mindset, who can partner closely with product and engineering teams
  • Visual design skills: an eye for polish, clear, and striking visual design
  • Experience tackling complex problems and delivering simple and thorough experiences
  • Mastery over the tools of the trade (e.g., Figma)
  • Expertise in user experience design for mobile and desktop websites
  • Experience working on a high-performing design team at an established software company

Nice to have:

  • Passion to combat climate change
  • Experience working at a high-growth startup or founding a company
  • Experience or interest in designing B2B products and working with small business customers to understand their needs
  • Web development and prototyping experience
  • Experience with iOS/android app design

Location

  • Must have work authorization and be based in either USA or Canada
