The HR Project Management Team (PMT) helps plan and execute on some of the highest priorities impacting the employee experience at Gusto. Directly supporting multiple teams, we lead through clear priorities and roadmaps, and organizational rigor. You will have the opportunity to partner with business leaders across the People Team, Data and Insights, IT, Finance and Biz Ops, Legal, and Head of Gusto (CEO Team) to drive best-in-class experiences for our employees.
You will drive strategic projects and initiatives across multiple teams to solve complex problems and execute large cross-functional projects that bring our strategic vision to life. You’ll be experience-obsessed, strategic, detail-oriented, and innovative.
Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
- Lead and support cross-functional People Team projects and initiatives ensuring an inclusive and collaborative employee experience
- Drive accountability to the project sponsors and other stakeholders
- Develop and manage project plans and charters for cross-functional initiative
- Provide insights and recommendations based on data to drive our People strategy
- Build and implement scalable processes that support employees to do their best work at Gusto
Here’s what we're looking for:
- 6+ years of relevant work experience in project/program management, analyst, and business operations roles
- A proven track record of executing large projects, including tracking project deliverables toward defined outcomes
- Ability to develop insightful quantitative analyses, paired with strong critical thinking and business judgment
- Familiarity with Human Resources practices and change management
- Strong ability to analyze, question and leverage data for decision making
- Working knowledge of change management and performance evaluation processes
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Passion for problem solving
- Executive presence and ability to influence senior leaders
- Deep empathy and obsession for our small business customers
Our cash compensation range for this role is $115,000 to $136,000/yr in Denver, and $140,000 to $165,000/yr in San Francisco. Remote locations will vary based on our geographical pay approach. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate location, experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.
Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.
