About Dupe

Dupe is building the front door for deals on the internet; show us what you want to buy and we’ll find it (or something similar) for way less.

Launched in April 2024, we already run circles around most consumer apps via our viral marketing, we’ve been featured on The Today Show, and are now pulling over a million people a month into our vortex of “same thing, less money.” Why? Because people’s budgets are under pressure, they’re paying an ever greater brand tax, and the old ways of shopping are falling apart under the weight of too many choices and too much tech.

If you bring rare talent, relentless energy, and a drive to chase bold ideas with haste, alongside a world-class team, this could be your next great chapter. Keep reading.

About the role

As a founding designer, you'll join Dupe to shape its visual, product, and brand identity from the ground up. You won’t just design—you’ll define what “design” means for the company and build the foundation for future growth. This role is fast-paced, high-impact, and requires deep strategic thinking, constant flexibility, and strong organizational discipline. You’ll more than likely design things we can’t even imagine yet… tech is moving too quickly to be specific.

Compensation & location

Base: $160,000-$220,000

Equity: 0.5%-1.5%

Tokens: $DUPE token allocation

Location: NYC

Key responsibilities

  1. Own design across Dupe Set the tone for our visual and UX design, own how Dupe shows up as pixels in shopper’s eyeballs across the board.

  2. Strategic Prioritization Brutally prioritize design efforts—choose the top 3 impact areas daily and ruthlessly eliminate distractions

  3. Navigate Ambiguity Own design gaps across product, brand, marketing, and fundraising (decks, as needed), experimenting with limited direction

  4. Generalist Execution Wear multiple hats: research, UX, UI, branding, illustration (expertise not critical, but some ability expected), and marketing—depending on where the team needs you

  5. Advocate Design’s Business Value Tie design decisions to metrics—pitch design as a strategic lever for growth and funding

  6. Build Culture & Processes Create transparency into design workflows, decisions, and organizational architecture.

What you’ll need

  1. Deep expertise in design tools: High versatility and expertise in contemporary product and graphic design tools. High slope learning process to help Dupe adopt new tools to sharpen our design practice.
  2. Strategic, flexible thinker: Thrive in chaos and ambiguity; comfortable making decisions with incomplete data for at least the next year or two.
  3. Strong prioritization skills: Focus on high-leverage tasks, manage scope, and resist perfectionism. Have a strong sense for when to lean into craft versus getting an idea out there to start learning.
  4. Business and data fluency: Capable of linking design choices to business outcomes and communicating ROI effectively. You don’t need to be a data expert but you need to have high enough numeracy to read a chart and know when something is working or not.
  5. Excellent communicator & collaborator: Natural at telling stories, building trust, and working cross-functionally. We actually think a small dose of ego is good, stand up for great ideas, bring conviction to your decision-making and do the work to bring everyone else over the line.
