About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Coder to join our team. As a Medical Coder, you will be responsible for accurately coding healthcare claims in order to obtain reimbursement from insurance companies and government healthcare programs.
What You'll Do
Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and/or HCPCS Level II codes to patient records and claims.
Interpret medical information such as diseases or conditions, and diagnostic procedures and translate them into medical codes.
Conduct thorough reviews of patient medical records to identify all pertinent diagnoses and treatment details.
Coordinate with the billing team to ensure all bills are satisfied in a timely manner.
Communicate with other healthcare professionals, including providers and insurance representatives, to clarify diagnoses or to obtain additional information.
Maintain a working knowledge of the latest coding practices and relevant changes in coding and reimbursement regulations.
Adhere to strict confidentiality and compliance standards related to medical records and HIPAA.
Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant coding to support the Revenue Cycle Management process.

Ability to run independent QA audits & reports to compare and contrast code suggestions with accurate coding (based on latest NCCI and other guidelines)
What You Have
A certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential is required.
Minimum of 2 years of medical coding experience, preferably within an RCM company.
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Proficient understanding of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
Familiarity with medical billing and claims process.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in medical coding software and EHR systems.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy under pressure.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience across Ambulatory coding processes - with specific specialty knowledge across Cardiology, Orthopedics, Primary Care and OB/GYN coding for US systems

Exposure to EHRs and coding practices / workflows across - Athena, Epic and eClinical Works (would be a benefit)
